Movement for Bure

against the burying of radioactive waste - July 2001

Nuclear waste is unmanageable, and is a real time bomb just waiting to blow us all up. It is treated, transported all round Europe, governments try to bury it, but no one really knows what to do with it. The nuclear industry is not only dangerous (the Chernobyl accident; risks of other major accidents; irrecoverable contamination of many sites), it also puts future generations at risk by offering no responsible solutions for the treatment of its waste.

The French government has started a first burying site for long-term radioactive waste in Bure (in the Meuse department in north-eastern France), we must stop it by all means!

To say NO to the burying of nuclear poisoning.

To say YES to a quick way out of nuclear power all over the world because

"radioactivity knows no frontier !"

Join the Movement for BURE :

- From 17 June to 22 July : marches converging to Bure - by foot, bike, car

or on horse. Departures have been scheduled from various points in France.

Why not organise a march from your own country !

- Sunday 22 July in Bure : everyone gathers to "STOP NUCLEAR MADNESS"

- From 22 to 29 July : a week in Bure, facing the building site of the future nuclear dump (conferences/debates, peaceful actions of various kinds, parties...)

Organised by the union of associations against the burying of radioactive waste, with the support of the "Réseau Sortir du nucléaire" (the "nuclear out network") and Greenpeace.
